Services

Trauma Touch Therapy™ is a body-centered, sensory awareness approach that may benefit people experiencing

  • Post and Persistent Traumatic Stress
  • Compassion Fatigue (secondary or vicarious traumatic stress)
  • Overwhelming life events
  • "Issues in the tissues" that talk therapy has not resolved. Trauma Touch Therapy™ (TTT) is an adjunct to - not a substitute for - talk therapy.

Trauma Touch Therapy™ does not involve touch until we have worked together on sensory awareness, emotional capacities and trusting each other. Hands-on touch takes place when each of us agrees that the client is ready. It is always non-sexual and client directed.

Trauma Touch clients contract for 10 sessions that create a container for the process to unfold.  Contracts can be renewed as needed.

Hands-on bodywork

There are a many massage and bodywork styles.
I integrate a variety of approaches with special focus on Fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds all the body's organs and holds all the bones, muscles, blood vessels and nerves in place. It is very sensitive tissue that often gets tight under stress.

  • With assistance, Fascia often re-aligns itself and muscles begin to release tension.
  • When Fascia re-aligns itself internal organs relax and function often improves.
  • When connective tissue unwinds, emotions are often more accessible.

Connective tissue is very sensitive, so hands-on work is subtle.

I usually integrate acupressure and some massage when working with fascia.

During the session you will be encouraged to give feedback as needed to

•   keep the work in your comfort range
•   enhance relaxation
•   help you integrate changes

Bring the woodland song to the city, Bring the gleam of stars to tired eyes...

As a young Girl Scout, I sang those lyrics around wilderness campfires. 10 years ago, the lyrics sang themselves to me as I moved from "The Last Green Valley" (rural CT) to the urban intensity of Los Angeles. I often seek refuge outdoors - in the garden and in parks - where the lyrics remind me to Bring the woodland song to the city - to people who want a little help from nature to refresh busy brains or tattered emotions.

I lead individuals and small groups (people who have experienced at least one individual session). During individual sessions (60 min.), we notice the effects of colors, scents, textures and natural cycles on our breathing and movement patterns, tension and stress. We use sensory awareness to "ground" obsessive thoughts, worries and anxiety.

In small groups (90 min.), participants are invited to deepen the above practice and explore how sensory awareness and sensory guided self expression influence experiences such as discomfort, pain and pleasure.

For many years I have integrated sensory awareness with body-centered work to help people

  • soften and release tension
  • befriend their body
  • self regulate disruptive physical and emotional experiences

Sessions are by appointment in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, Shatto Park, Barnsdale Park and occasionally Lake Balboa.

Donations are appreciated.

Massage Vacuum Cups

I use glass suction cups to

                                              Massage vacuum cups

  • help mobilize certain types of congestion
  • help release adhered tissue
  • draw certain types of inflammation to the surface

Massage Cups are applied directly to the skin.

Cupping utilizes the body’s lymphatic system, as cups slide from the affected areas to the nearest lymph channels.*

*This technique is a modification of traditional Chinese cupping that uses fire to create a vacuum.
